Environmental sustainability is defined as responsible interaction with the environment to avoid depletion or degradation of natural resources and allow for long-term environmental quality.
Sustainability and ecology are a matter of course for Lignocolor as a modern company. Even when designing new formulations for our DIY chalk paints, we pay attention to the conscious use of raw materials and as environmentally conscious production as possible. For us as a family-owned company, sustainability also includes social responsibility towards our employees. Environment, production and quality – every area at Lignocolor is dedicated to sustainability.
Environmental protection and environmental responsibility start for us with the formulations: We have reduced questionable substances to the bare minimum in order to obtain properties such as the durability and user-friendliness of our paints, glazes and varnishes. When we develop a new product, the question of ecology and sustainability is always in the foreground. An example is our wood wax based on linseed oil, which consists of almost 100 percent natural raw materials. But also the raw materials for our wall and chalk colors come mostly from nature. But that is not enough for us. That's why we are constantly developing our products and sometimes exchanging raw materials in the recipes when research has developed better from an ecological point of view.
In the production of Lignocolor products, we continuously question and optimize all processes and processes in the sense of ecology: For example, as little rinsing water as possible is used in production – and we prepare and use it a second time (is used much more frequently). Because we want to produce little waste. This also means that we do not simply dispose of returned paint cans, but process them and reuse them. This is more expensive, but is in line with our sustainability philosophy.
Lignocolor has been shaped from the very first product by its founder Marcel Prieto's passion for chemical relationships, colours, textures and high-quality products. His euphoria is transferred daily to the employees of the family business. You can feel this passion when working with Lignocolor products.
For Lignocolor, the focus is always on the quality of its products – and not on the price of raw materials. Because the good properties such as the easy applicability of the paints would not be possible with cheap raw materials. Our chalk therefore comes, for example, from the mining areas of The French Champagne, the titanium oxide from Switzerland, all binders we obtain from Germany. At the same time, the relatively short transport distances and working conditions according to European standards are in line with our commitment to sustainable production.
Most Lignocolor colours are DIN-tested by an independent, globally recognized research institute in Germany. In addition, we plan to introduce voluntary safety tests, for example with regard to allergens.
We produce all our products ourselves. This includes the development and production as well as the filling of the colours and the design of the labels. To this day, for example, the grandmother of company founder Marcel Prieto manufactures the colour cards by hand.
